Rolling Start Inc.

Alert! Not only have we moved to a new office to provide better service, we are currently redesigning the website to be more accessible, provide information on all of our services, including calendars of events, classes and workshops!

Rolling Start's mission is to educate and empower people with disabilities to achieve the independent lifestyle of THEIR CHOICE.

The purpose of this site is to provide the general public with some information that will lead to a clearer understanding of what a Center for Independent Living (CIL) (generally known as an Independent Living Center ILC) is. The most common misunderstanding is that a CIL is some kind of residential facility.

Centers for Independent Living (CIL's) are typically non-residential, private, non-profit, consumer-controlled, community-based organizations providing services and advocacy by and for persons with all types of disabilities.

There are nearly 500 CIL's in the USA. Many are state supported. Their goal is to assist individuals with disabilities to achieve their maximum potential within their families and communities.

Also, Centers for Independent Living serve as a strong advocacy voice on a wide range of national, state and local issues. They work to assure physical and programmatic access to housing, employment, transportation, communities, recreational facilities, and health and social services.

We are here to help! Independent living is just a phone call away!
