Assistive technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the ability to perform activities of daily living. The Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) of San Bernardino County is a partnership between the Area Agency on Aging, the Independent Living Center (Rolling Start, Inc.), and community partners. The ADRC streamlines access to Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS), which are person-centered and consumer-controlled. The goal is to minimize confusion and enhance individual options to meet personal goals for independence.
Rolling Start is excited to have been awarded a 2 year grant to start up a Traumatic brain injury program in unserved areas of San Bernardino, Inyo and Mono Counties beginning in September 2022.

As individuals develop a work plan with the Employment Specialist, we encourage them to make suggestions and changes as needed to encourage an independent living lifestyle. The more input we receive, the more we can customize the individual’s employment plan to fit their needs.
Our employment specialists work on a case-by-case basis in order to help an individual find employment and bridge the gap between employers and people with disabilities.

CalAIM (Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal) California’s transformational new 5 year program to support the Master Plan on Aging. Older adults and people with disabilities will have resources to stay independent in their own home and in their own communities.
